COMMUNITY TAPS + PIZZA

A pizza place with personality.

Client: Community Taps + PizzaLocation: 8232 Gateway Blvd NW, Edmonton, Alberta, CanadaProject Type: Hand painted murals Date Completed: February 2022

The goal of the artwork in Community was to create multiple pieces of art that were all different, yet would sit cohesively next to each other in the same space. The challenge was to create the feeling of individuality in each piece, while also coming together to create a whole, playing off the idea of ‘community’. The art is intended to be inviting to all who enter the space.

BAR MURAL
16 x 5 ft hand painted mural for the bar at Community Taps + Pizza

Client requested the artwork make a statement but be subtle while complimenting the shelving and be a talking point for the bartender. The rest was left to my creative freedom.

The mural is painted in an abstract style where a bold, captivating mural is created through colour blocking. The abstract style allows for a unique experience as everyone’s eye and mind interprets colours, forms, and shapes differently. This style allows for the subject matter to be more subtle and not overpower the beauty of the space. Can you see the lion roaring?

SEATING AREA WALL ART
Hand painted mural spread across two walls in the seating area at Community Taps + Pizza.

Client requested the artwork add some interest to the seating area while not being too distracting behind the TVs. The rest was left to my creative freedom.

Please note the painted text was an existing piece of art from the previous restaurant that was kept (artist unknown).

HALLWAY MURAL #1
13 x 5 ft hand painted mural in the hallway at Community Taps + Pizza.

Client requested that sketch-style floral wall art be painted on every hall, in a way that flowed throughout the walls and up onto the ceiling in every corridor on all four floors of the hotel. These illustrations helped to create the feeling of, ‘walking through the pages of a sketchbook,’ and help to carry on a theme of imagination and wonder.

HALLWAY MURAL #2
14.5 x 5 ft hand painted mural in the hallway at Community Taps + Pizza.

Client requested the mural add a pop of colour, bring some life to the hallway, and compliment the first hallway mural. The rest was left to my creative freedom.
