MELCOR MURAL

Commemorating 100 years of business in real estate.

Client: Melcor DevelopmentsLocation: 10310 Jasper Ave #900, Edmonton AlbertaProject Type: Hand painted muralDate Completed: September 2023

A 80 x 21 ft hand painted mural was painted for Melcor Developments, 9 stories high, right above their private patio on Jasper Ave in Edmonton, Alberta.

The client requested the mural be designed to celebrate Melcor’s 100th anniversary. Fitting 100 years of history in such a small space required a very high-level approach. The mural celebrates Melcor’s Edmonton (and Alberta) roots and the many ways the company has helped to shape Alberta’s urban landscape, from community and commercial development to the four championship golf courses that wind through Melcor-built communities. The design needed to complement their brand colours and include elements that paid homage to the past like the ‘For Sale’ sign from the 30s – one of Melcor’s oldest artifacts.

When designing the mural it was important to keep the design clean cut and high contrast since the mural would be viewed from up close (on the patio deck) and from a far (street level).
