CASE STUDY
COLUMBIA PLAZA
Butterflies and jaguars in a community setting.
Client: 76Group Location: Columbia Plaza 11817 105th Ave NW, Edmonton, Alberta, CanadaProject Type: Hand painted muralDate Completed: October 2022
165 x 14 ft hand painted mural on Columbia Plaza
Client requested the mural include floral, give nod to the building name, and bring beauty and positivity to the community.
Connecting on the same bike path as my previous mural (The Floral Wall) commissioned by the same client (@76group), the floral theme was carried over but with a completely different tone created through the colour palette and design. A combination of neutrals with pops of bold colours allowing for dimension and interest.
.
Utilizing the length of the wall the mural was designed to create a cohesive image that can be captured in different zones.
To give nod to the building name, ‘Columbia Plaza’, a jaguar can be seen peering through the floral. As well, respecting that there is a gym located adjacent to the mural which gets the only birds eye view of the art, the jaguar also creates an interesting dynamic in which when you look down through the gym windows the jaguar looks back up at you. Two butterflies can also be found creating unique patterns with their wings.
This project is in collaboration with @76group (developers of @manchestersquareyeg)
